Elmer Taylor - Artist Statement

As a functionalist in the tradition of Bernard Leach, I view the making of pottery that flows from my soul the ultimate achievement.Each activity that I take part in is of no more or less value to me than one breath more life giving than another. Each of the activities, exhibitions, lectures, and workshops, add to who I am and expand the boundaries of my influence… In this day of high technology the human needs to touch and use things that have been made and produced by other humans….All the work in clay that I produce is pre-subscribed…. this is, for a potter the highest complement….I work at the highest level in my field…..My expectation for my work are continually elevated…I'm my worst critic…
