Malcolm Wright - Artist Statement

My work can only be described as electric: from the materials and methods, to the forms and surfaces. The source of my inspiration comes from many directions and periods, both from the East and West. I am interested in the source of an idea, how a soft round form or an angular geometric form can both carry the same thrust of the original thought. The method of wood firing allows direct participation in the final step, helping to unify the piece, adding an intangible effect beyond my control.
