Clinical Laboratory Science

There are great career opportunities for certified clinical laboratory scientists (also known as medical technologists) here in Tyler and nationwide. Now students in East Texas are able to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science without traveling across the state.  

About the UTMB / UT Tyler Collaborative CLS Program:

• Junior and senior-level lectures from the University of Texas Medical Branch will be presented via a combination of ITV, streaming video and Blackboard.
• Most laboratory sessions will be scheduled in Tyler.
• Clinical (in-hospital) preceptorships will be scheduled at Tyler area hospitals and clinics.
• Full-time or part-time degree plans.
• Graduates will be immediately eligible for the national certification exams for MT and CLS.
• Graduates of NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Technician programs (MLT) are waived 21 credit hours in recognition of prior education.
• The next class begins in August 2008.  Apply before July 1, 2008.
