Institutional Effectiveness

Click here for a list of non-academic units that must complete assessments

The major component of the Compliance Certification is Institutional Effectiveness because IE includes almost every area of the university-- academic programs, service units, and administrative units. Institutions engage in institutional effectiveness as a method of continuous quality improvement of teaching, research, service, administration, and educational support. Not only does the institution carry out assessment, but also documents every step of the planning process. Planning and evaluation must result in real improvement as the results are expected to be folded back into the various aspects.

Specifically, institutional effectiveness or outcomes assessment plans will be prepared for the following areas:

Academic Units

Colleges
Departments
Courses
Core Curriculum
Graduate Programs

Non-Academic Units
(Not all service and administrative units will be assessed since not all have a direct impact on student learning and student service. )
