To maintain its accrediting status, UT Tyler must be able to demonstrate compliance with all of the SACS Principles of Accreditation. The method of showing compliance is through careful and thorough reports and supporting documentation of the SACS requirements.

There are several key documents that are required by SACS as part of the reaffirmation process. These include:

Compliance Certification The Compliance Certification Report is composed of 12 Core Requirements, 53 Comprehensive Standards, and 8 Federal Requirements. The Core Requirements include the basic elements essential for gaining and maintaining accreditation. The Comprehensive Standards set forth standards in the following areas: (1) institutional mission and governance, (2) institutional effectiveness; (3) educational and support programs and faculty qualifications; and (4) resources. The Federal Requirements are required by the U.S. Secretary of Education to establish the eligibility of UT Tyler to participate in various federal programs, including financial aid, research, Title IV compliance, etc.

The Compliance Certification is reviewed by an off-site team. The report and all documentation must be on-line or on a CD.

The Quality Enhancement Plan The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) describes in detail a focused course of action UT Tyler will take to improve and enhance some aspect of our students’ educational experiences. The QEP must be directly related to specific student learning outcomes.

Institutional Profiles Institutional Profiles are documents submitted annually to the SACS Commission on Colleges that provide updates of general university information, financial information and enrollment data.

The Focused Report The Focused Report provide additional documentation, explanation and answers regarding the Off-Site Reviewers' comments on the Compliance Certification.
