I was thousands of miles away from my home state of California and knew no one in Texas when I arrived at UT Tyler. But the campus was beautiful and everyone was very welcoming and friendly. One of the things I was really happy about was being able to form friendships so easily and quickly. I met one student who had grown up in Tyler and had a lot of friends. He introduced me to them and they immediately accepted and befriended me. I was far away from my family and my own friends, but I felt like I had been here 20 years.
