How to Support UT Tyler

The University of Texas at Tyler is committed to excellence and serves as a critically important center of higher education for a 14-county region. Established in 1971, it has grown into a four-year comprehensive university with important and unique programs such as education, nursing and the only public engineering college in East Texas. Its enrollment is projected to double within the next few years and we ask for your support as we embrace an exciting future!

Outright Gifts
Benefactors who contribute outright gifts provide immediate benefit to the University. Benefactors may designate a restriction as to the use of their gift or leave the gift unrestricted, thereby providing the University flexibility in meeting its development priorities.

  • Cash - fully deductible
  • Marketable Securities - save on both income and capital gains taxes
  • Real Estate - avoid capital gains, a charitable deduction at fair market value up to 30% of donors adjusted gross income
  • Life Insurance - immediate income tax deduction to current value of the policy
  • Pledges - allow flexibility in making gifts over time
  • Gifts-In-Kind - such as artwork, jewelry, and equipment also allow a fair-market value deduction
  • Corporate Matching Gifts - maximize your gift with employer matching contributions
  • Honorary & Memorial Gifts - fully deductible contribution in recognition of friends and loved ones

The University of Texas at Tyler's highest priorities are to increase enrollment and attract high-ability students to the University. Funding for the following scholarships enable us to offer competitive scholarships to academically talented students and provide need-based scholarships to other qualifying students.

Student Academic Excellence Fund
Participation in special, off-campus projects and field trips enrich and enhance the education offered to our students. These enrichment opportunities are not covered by budget and donor sponsorship is vital.

Faculty Research and Development Excellence Fund
Contributions to fund cutting-edge research, to employ graduate assistants and to securing specialized equipment ensure that our reputation as a forward thinking, state of the art university is unchallenged.


Buildings and Physical Facilities
It is imperative that new and larger facilities be built to accommodate the growing number of students and expanded curriculum of this University. Contributions for this building fund should be earmarked "Capital Improvement Fund." Our donors are assured that all possible care is exercised to keep the beautiful park-like atmosphere of our campus.

Those who serve as working members of the following organizations are individuals with diverse talents and vocations whose input help shape the future of this University. We depend on their wisdom, creativity, and support. We appreciate their strength. We are grateful for their service. If you are committed to giving your time to any of the following organizations, please contact our office.

The Heritage Society members are those who have notified UT Tyler of an intention to leave a future or planned gift through their estate plan or will. Members receive special recognition and invitations to special events hosted by the President of The University of Texas at Tyler.

The Patriot Classic Society
is a select organization formed by and composed of civic, business, professional and philanthropic leaders devoted to perpetuating the Patriot Golf Classic and enhancing its prestigious traditions and high standards. Membership is limited to 25 members who make an undesignated and unrestricted contribution of $5,000 or more annual to the Patriot Golf Classic. Members receive VIP privileges during the tournament and are encouraged to participate in the Classic by sponsoring teams, events and other tournament activities.

President's Associates
members are an elite group of friends of this university whose annual dues are unrestricted funds, which allow the president to allocate dollars quickly, and decisively in the pursuit of excellence - for the extras that allow the university to be above average, to do the special things that enhance the educational experience of students. Membership privileges include special mailings and invitations to select UT Tyler events and programs. Memberships are available.

Friends of the Arts
is an organization of artists and scholars, patron of the arts and benefactors whose purpose is to support the fine and performing arts. The annual membership fee is allocated to support the university in its efforts to bring noted artists to the campus; secondly, to assist in providing for those special needs which enhance the academic programs in the arts. Members are treated to day trips to museums in Dallas, Ft. Worth and Houston and enjoy fellowship at the annual membership party.
