Bill joined the Academic Advising Team on December 1, 2008, on a three-fourths time basis, with major responsibilities for transfer advising, undecided students, and overflow. He now advises freshman in Health and Kinesiology, Health Studies, and Kinesiology. Before joining us, Bill assisted in the UT Tyler Registrar’s Office for several months.
Previously, Bill taught in the public schools in Oklahoma. He taught Business, English, and other subjects for three and a half years in junior high and high schools, and was a high school Vocational Distributive Education Coordinator four years. During this period, he also taught night classes at The Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma, and to inmates at the El Reno Maximum Security Federal Reformatory. He has also been Director of Financial Aid and Placement in the Dallas County Community College District five years, Registrar at Southwestern Oklahoma State University sixteen years, and Registrar at Tyler Junior College eleven years. Bill holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Business and Accounting from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, Oklahoma, and a Master of Education Degree in Guidance, Counseling, and Vocational Education from Central Oklahoma State University in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Bill has been and continues to be active in a number of higher education and Student Personnel professional organizations in Oklahoma and Texas, and is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, a professional educational fraternity. He cannot seem to stay retired or get away from the higher education setting and its students, which he loves!
