Transfer Advising

At UT Tyler, we are committed to providing a seamless transition for our transfer students. Following are links to helpful information for the transfer process.

College Advisor Referrals

Transfer students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor every semester to ensure successful completion of degree requirements. The College Advisor Referrals page lists contact information for advisors assigned to the colleges and departments at UT Tyler.

Program Equivalency Guides (PEGs)

To aid in the seamless transition to UT Tyler the university is in the process of establishing Program Equivalency Guides (PEGS) with many of the community/junior colleges in Texas. These PEGS will include course equivalency information for specific degree requirements for many of the degrees offered by UT Tyler. Select the appropriate community/junior college then select the interested major to find information on all lower-division degree requirements and the community/junior college equivalent.

Texas Common Course Numbering System

The Texas Common Course Number System (TCCNS) is designed to aid students in the transfer of freshman and sophomore academic credit courses from colleges and universities throughout Texas. The University of Texas at Tyler has joined this consortium approved by the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The system ensures that if the student takes courses that the receiving institution designates as common, then the courses will be accepted in transfer at other Texas public colleges and universities.
