The University of Texas at Tyler Friends of the Arts was established in 1985.  It is an organization of scholars, patrons of the arts and benefactors whose primary purpose is to support the visual and performing arts by:

expanding resource materials for the programs of the Art, Music and Theatre departments
bringing noted artists and speakers to campus
providing student scholarships
contributing to the development of collections of the Robert R. Muntz Library
organizing day bus trips to area cultural events
underwriting Jim Yancy's Opera Appreciation Class
providing Third Wednesday Films, a series of independent, classic, documentary and foreign films in a spring series and a fall series

Membership dues:  Each membership is offered at two levels: Gold - $150 and Silver - $100.  The Gold Membership provides benefits to FOA-sponsored events.  A membership at either level is mandatory for inclusion in all trips, other than day trips.  Each person is encouraged to choose the level that meets his/her individual needs.   Example:  A “couple membership” is two individual memberships at either, or both levels.

Other privileges of membership at both levels include prior notice of unique entertainment hosted in U. T. Tyler’s Cowan Center and Braithwaite Recital Hall, free admission to performances by U. T. Tyler students enrolled in the School of Visual and Performing Arts, and special events sponsored by the President of the University.  For additional information, contact the Office of University Advancement at 903.566.7110, or by E-mail:  advancement@mail.uttyl.edu.
