Hodges Goes Pro with Coastal Kingfish

HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler’s Paige Hodges has signed a professional baseball contract with the Coastal Kingfish of the Continental Baseball League.

He joins fellow Patriot Tommy Rozell who was inked by the Kingfish earlier this month. More>>>

Baseball’s Holland Drafted by San Diego Padres
June 11, 2009

SEACAUCUS, N.J. – Senior pitcher Brett Holland of The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team was selected in the 49th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Thursday by the San Diego Padres.

Holland’s selection marks the third-straight year that a UT Tyler player has been taken in the MLB draft. Brett Amyx and Nate Jennings were drafted by Kansas City and Toronto, respectively, in 2007, while Tim Matthews and Holland were chosen by Colorado and Oakland, respectively, in 2008. More>>>

KENOSHA, Wis. – Senior Brett Holland of The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team was named West Region Pitcher of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday.

The Lindale-native finished third in the nation in total strikeouts on the season with 112 and 12th in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings with 11.93. More>>>

Baseball’s Holland Named Academic All-American
May 26, 2009

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Senior pitcher Brett Holland of The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team was announced as a second-team Academic All-American by ESPN The Magazine and the College Sports Information Directors of America on Tuesday.

Holland was just one of seven pitchers nationwide to be selected to one of the three College Division Academic All-America teams. The College Division is comprised of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and NJCAA schools from around the country. More>>>

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team was eliminated from the 2009 NCAA Division III Baseball West Regional on Saturday evening with a 10-4 loss to George Fox at Jim Wright Stadium in McMinnville.

Baseball Works Late to Win First ASC Title
May 4, 2009

CLINTON, Miss. – After a five hour rain delay, two games and a thrilling ninth inning comeback, The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team claimed the first American Southwest Conference Championship in program history just after midnight on Monday morning at Mississippi College’s Frierson Field in Clinton.

With a scheduled 1 p.m. start, game one of the ASC Title game was pushed back to 6 p.m. due to inclement weather in Clinton. Once the game finally began, the Patriots turned in a dominating 16-2 performance over Mississippi College to force a winner-takes-all game two.

In game two, the Patriots mounted a thrilling ninth inning rally to capture the ASC Championship with an 8-5 win. More>>>

CLINTON, Miss – The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team split a pair of games on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s title game of the 2009 American Southwest Conference Championship tournament at Mississippi College’s Frierson Field in Clinton.

The Patriots fell in their first game of the day, 15-4, to Mississippi, but were able to persevere and immediately return to the field and defeat UT Dallas, 4-3, in the day’s finale. More>>>

The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team dropped its regular season finale to Mississippi College, 11-7, Monday afternoon but the Patriots finished the season as co-champions of the American Southwest Conference East Division and will host McMurry in a best-of-three series in the first round of the ASC Baseball Championship Tournament beginning Friday at Irwin Field.

The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team clinched at least a share of the 2009 American Southwest Conference East Division championship on a windy Sunday afternoon as the Patriots split a doubleheader with Mississippi College at Irwin Field.  The series concludes with a Monday game beginning at 4 p.m.

Brock Lemire had three RBIs and The University of Texas at Tyler overcame an early deficit to slip by the University of Dallas, 5-4, in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday night at Irwin Field.
