Baseball Moves Up to 6th In Latest Poll
April 14, 2008
STERLING, Va. – For the first time in four weeks the University of Texas at Tyler baseball team moved up in the weekly NCBWA/D3baseball.com Top 25 Poll. The Patriots moved up two spots from eighth to sixth and received one first place vote.
UT Tyler won four games last week. The Patriots blasted Dallas in a mid-week non-conference contest, 15-0, and swept Louisiana College in a three-game American Southwest Conference weekend series.
UT Tyler’s wins, paired with two losses by Ozarks, clinched the Patriots the right to host a three-game series in the first round of the 2008 ASC Baseball Championships.
On Friday, UT Tyler will travel to Mississippi College for its final series of the season. The winner of the series will be crowned the ASC East champion and receive the East’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Game time on Friday is set for 6 p.m., while Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
