RICHARDSON, Texas – The American Southwest Conference announced the official pairings, sites and times for the first round of the 2008 ASC Baseball Championship Tournament on Monday.

UT Tyler (33-7), the No. 1 seed from the East, will host the No. 4 seed from the West, Hardin-Simmons (26-14), in a best-of-three game series set for Friday and Saturday at Irwin Field.

The Cowboys finished in a four-way tie for the West Division regular-season title and received the fourth-seed by virtue of a tie-breaker. Game time for Friday is 6 p.m., while Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. All games are nine innings and the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader will be played only if necessary.

Earlier in the season, Hardin-Simmons defeated UT Tyler, 8-9, in Abilene, but the Patriots got a big win over the Cowboys in Tyler, 17-6.

The winner of the three-game set will advance to the Championship round of the tournament. The Championship round will feature the winners of the other three series and will be hosted by the top-seed from the West on May 2-4

Other pairings are: East #3 Ozarks at West #2 Concordia (Tex.), West #3 Mary Hardin-Baylor at East #2 Mississippi College and East #4 Louisiana College at West #1 McMurry.
