Towns Named ASC East Hitter of the Week

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Junior Joe Towns (Carrollton, Texas) was named East Division Co-Hitter of the Week by the American Southwest Conference on Monday afternoon.

Towns was 13-for-31 on the week, with 11 RBIs, eight runs, three homeruns, two walks, one double, one triple, one stolen base, and no strikeouts.

During Friday’s game at East Texas Baptist, Towns hit for the cycle, becoming the first patriot of the season to do so. During that game, Towns was 5-for-8 with two runs and four RBIs.

Towns finished the week with a batting average of 419, a slugging percentage of .828 and an on base percentage of .471.

Towns and the rest of the fifth-ranked Patriots will return to Irwin Field on Thursday, when they kick-off a three game ASC East series against No. 24 Ozarks at 6 p.m.
