Baseball’s Baker, Booher, Holland Named All-Americans

STERLING, Va. – Clay Baker, Blake Booher and Brett Holland of The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team were named NCAA Division III All-Americans on Tuesday by D3Baseball.com.
Booher from Hurst, Texas, received Second Team honors as a pitcher, while Baker, a second baseman from Henderson, Texas, and Holland, a pitcher from Lindale, Texas, were named to the Third Team.
These are the latest of many honors that the trio has received for their performances during the 2008 season. All three were named First Team All-American Southwest Conference East Division, with Baker and Booher being named the Division’s Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.
The three UT Tyler players also earned First Team All-Region honors earlier in the week and Holland was recognized for his work on and off the field by being named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team. Additionally, Booher and Holland were two of six UT Tyler baseball players to earn Academic All-Conference honors.
The 2008 UT Tyler baseball team finished the season with a 36-9 record and won their third ASC East championship.
