Hayley Smith, senior psychology major at The University of Texas at Tyler, has organized UT Tyler’s Big Give to provide students a chance to give back to their community.
The fundraiser will be April 29 – May 1 and will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Smith County, Boys and Girls Club of East Texas and Youth and Family Enrichment Centers, Inc.
UT Tyler student-athletes, led by their respective coaches, will have three days to solicit donations and before they give to the money raised to the non-profit organizations.
The event is open to all UT Tyler students and employees, as well as members of the community.
UT Tyler campus participants can sign up in the Office of Student Development, which is in the University Center, room 111. Community members can sign up or donate at Sweet Gourmet, located at 4554 South Broadway.
If you would like to donate, please bring your donations by the main athletic office, located above the Met. If you would rather donate items, here is a list of items that these organizations are in need of:
- Paved circle driveway
- New showers and bathroom floors in the cottages
- New stoves and refrigerators in kitchen
- Laundry room with industrial washer and dryers

- Commercial Lawn mower for property
- Assorted tools for maintenance
- Remodeled kitchen
- Bleachers for Softball Field, upgrading of softball field

- Foosball table
- Paved basketball court
- Bicycle Racks
- Fishing equipment
- Exercise equipment
- Bedding (twin size)

- Vehicles for transporting kids to doctor’s appointments, etc.
- Large vans, Mini-Vans, etc.
- Furniture (Dressers, Couches, Office Chairs, Entertainment Centers, Computer desks)
- Clothes for boys (primarily ages 7-17)
