Cross Country Teams Finish 3rd, 16th at Regionals
November 15, 2008

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s and women’s cross country team finished third and sixteenth, respectively, at the 2008 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional on Saturday in Seguin.

This marks the second straight year that the Patriot men’s team has finished just below the two-team cut for the National meet.

Individually, seniors Ben Donnan (Paris, Texas) and Warren Brown (Lindale, Texas) qualified for Nationals, while senior R.J. Cowan (Whitehouse, Texas) and junior Philbert Mutuyimana (Glendale, Ariz.) joined Donnan and Brown on the All-Region team. More>>>

Men’s Cross Country Wins 4th Straight ASC Title, Women 2nd
November 1, 2008

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s cross country team won its fourth straight American Southwest Conference title on Saturday at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The women turned in their best-ever finish at the meet, finishing second, just seven points behind winners Mississippi College.

Senior Warren Brown (Lindale, Texas) won the individual title in a time of 26:06. Coach Bob Hepler took home his fourth straight Men’s Coach of the Year honor, while senior R. J. Cowan (Whitehouse, Texas) was named as the inaugural ASC Men’s Cross Country Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. More>>>

Cross Country Teams Ready for ASC Championships

Since The University of Texas at Tyler began its athletic program in 2003, Patriot teams have won seven American Southwest Conference championships. Three of those titles belong to the men’s cross country team.

Former Gorman Coach Spencer Joins Cross Country Staff

Former T.K. Gorman cross country head coach Grant Spencer, who led the Crusader girls’ team to three TAPPS state titles, has joined the UT Tyler Cross Country and Track & Field coaching staff as an assistant.

MONROE, La. – Senior Warren Brown (Lindale, Texas) and The University of Texas at Tyler men’s cross country team each won their second consecutive race in Saturday’s Warhawk Invitational, hosted by the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The Patriots were the only non-Division I team in the-six team field.

On the women’s side, UT Tyler took home third place beating out three Division I teams and ASC rival Louisiana College. Freshman Sarah Hankla (Tyler, Texas) was the Patriots’ top finisher in fifth place. More>>>

The University of Texas at Tyler men's and women's cross country teams cruised to easy victories in the teams' only home meets of the year Saturday on the UT Tyler campus.
