UT Tyler Runners Ranked No. 30
October 3, 2007

A day after The University of Texas at Tyler men’s cross country team moved up to No. 1 in the South/Southeast region, the Patriots learned today that they have broken into the national poll.

UT Tyler is ranked No. 30 in the nation according to the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll released today.

This is the fist season UT Tyler teams, in any sport, are eligible to be officially ranked in the national polls and the slot for men’s cross country marks the first time a Patriots’ team has cracked the regular season rankings.

UT Tyler has won three straight meets and the Patriots averaged three runners in the top five of each of those races.

The Division III men’s cross country rankings are determined by a committee comprised of coaches representing the eight different regions of the country.

The Patriots run at the University of Dallas in Irving this Saturday and travel the University of Arkansas for a meet on Oct. 13.

The American Southwest Conference meet is set for Oct. 27 in Abilene.
