Cross Country Teams Win Dallas Meets

IRVING - The University of Texas at Tyler men’s and women’s cross country teams both won their respective races at the University of Dallas Invitational Saturday morning in Irving.
The top finish was the first team win of the season for the UT Tyler women, with Sarah Hankla finishing in second place to lead the Patriots. Hankla, a freshman from Tyler, ran the 6K in 25:42.
Also in the top five for the Patriots, Lindsey Moore finished in third place overall at 26:12, followed by teammate Heidi Stevens in fourth at 26:20.
The UT Tyler men, with senior Chauncey Deller taking overall individual honors, won their fourth straight meet.
Deller notched a time of 28:09 for the 8K. Ross Renfroe, Kirk Hesse, and Clay Freeman finished third, fourth and seventh, respectively, giving the Patriots four runners in the top ten.
