Patriot Men Lead MC/LC Invite After Day One
March 8, 2010
DELHI, La. – After firing an opening-round score of 307, led by sophomore Jacob Walsh's 2-under-par 70, the University of Texas at Tyler men lead the MC/LC Invite by four strokes over McMurry University who carded a first-round score of 311.
The Patriots followed with rounds of 78 from Luke Loggins and 79 from Joey Rippel, as all five golfers are in the Top 20 individually after round one. Day two will tee of Tuesday at 8 a.m. from Black Bear Golf Course.

Patriots Claim Men's, Women's ASC Golfer of the Week

RICHARDSON – After each claiming first place in the Schreiner Spring Shootout last weekend for UT Tyler, senior men's golfer Brandon Ellis was named the ASC Co-Golfer of the Week and sophomore women's golfer Callie Rice was named the ASC's female Golfer of the Week.
The duo became the first male and female tandem to each take individual titles in the same tournament, with Ellis' score of 152 in the two-day tournament tying with Schreiner's Jay Chapman and Rice's score of 163 two strokes better than Southwestern's Kristen Davenport. More>>>

Ellis, Rice Take Individual Titles at Schreiner Spring Shootout

KERRVILLE – For the first time in the school's history, a male and female athlete each won individual championships in the same tournament, with UT Tyler senior Brandon Ellis and sophomore Callie Rice both finishing first in the Schreiner Spring Shootout at Commanche Trace this past weekend.
Ellis' score of 152 in the two-day tournament tied with Schreiner's Jay Chapman before Ellis won the head-to-head playoff on the scorecard. The senior rallied from an opening round 81 to shoot the tournament low round of 71 on Tuesday in claiming first-place honors. More>>>

Men’s Golf Wins First Tournament at Louisiana

ALEXANDRIA, La. - The University of Texas at Tyler men’s golf team won its first tournament of the 2009-2010 season on Tuesday by finishing first at the Louisiana College Fall Tournament at the Oak Wing Golf Course in Alexandria.
The Patriots ended the two-day tournament with a 578 and finished four strokes ahead of second place Texarkana CC. More>>>
