Men's Golf Wins Coca-Cola Intercollegiate, Women Second

SAVANNAH, Ga.– Jacob Walsh and Joey Rippel tied for the top individual honors and led The University of Texas at Tyler men's golf team to a first-place finish at the Coca-Cola Intercollegiate Invitational played this weekend at Hunter Golf Course.
Walsh and Rippel finished the 54-hole event with low scores of 216, and overall the Patriots bested second place Christopher Newport by 27 strokes. UT Tyler shot a combined 883 (288-284-311) over the two days to CNU's 910 (303-302-305). More>>>

RICHARDSON – After firing a a 1-over-par 70-75—145 to win the Mississippi College/Louisiana College Invitational at Black Bear Golf Course, sophomore Jacob Walsh has been named the ASC Men's Golfer of the Week.
Walsh is the second straight golfer to earn Golfer of the Week honors, following up teammate Brandon Ellis, with the Patriots winning their fourth consecutive tournament overall. More>>>

DELHI, La. – After carding an opening-round score of 307 to lead by four strokes over McMurry University on Day 1, the 10th-ranked UT Tyler men's golf team followed with a 306 on the second day to pull away from the competition at the annual MC/LC Invitational at Black Bear Golf Course and win by a 19-stroke advantage.
The win for UT Tyler marked its fourth straight this season and second consecutive to open the spring, with three golfers finishing in the Top 5, led by sophomore Jacob Walsh who took first place overall after a combined two-day finish of 145 (70, 75). More>>>
Patriots Claim Men's, Women's ASC Golfer of the Week

RICHARDSON – After each claiming first place in the Schreiner Spring Shootout last weekend for UT Tyler, senior men's golfer Brandon Ellis was named the ASC Co-Golfer of the Week and sophomore women's golfer Callie Rice was named the ASC's female Golfer of the Week.
The duo became the first male and female tandem to each take individual titles in the same tournament, with Ellis' score of 152 in the two-day tournament tying with Schreiner's Jay Chapman and Rice's score of 163 two strokes better than Southwestern's Kristen Davenport.

KERRVILLE – For the first time in the school's history, a male and female athlete each won individual championships in the same tournament, with UT Tyler senior Brandon Ellis and sophomore Callie Rice both finishing first in the Schreiner Spring Shootout at Commanche Trace this past weekend.
Ellis' score of 152 in the two-day tournament tied with Schreiner's Jay Chapman before Ellis won the head-to-head playoff on the scorecard. The senior rallied from an opening round 81 to shoot the tournament low round of 71 on Tuesday in claiming first-place honors. More>>>

Men’s Golf Wins First Tournament at Louisiana

ALEXANDRIA, La. - The University of Texas at Tyler men’s golf team won its first tournament of the 2009-2010 season on Tuesday by finishing first at the Louisiana College Fall Tournament at the Oak Wing Golf Course in Alexandria.
The Patriots ended the two-day tournament with a 578 and finished four strokes ahead of second place Texarkana CC. More>>>
