Patriots Golf Finishes Second At UMHB

The University of Texas at Tyler golf team turned in a strong second-place performance this weekend at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Invitational, finishing just three strokes off the host school’s winning pace.
The Patriots shot 300-299-599, finishing the eighteen-team tournament tied for second place with UT Brownsville (294-305-599). Mary Hardin-Baylor won their invitational with a 296-300-596 finish.
Patriots golfer Michael Carnes (FR/New Braunfels, TX) finished tied for second with a 72-73-145, just two strokes behind UT Brownsville’s Anthony Lopez (72-71-143). Dean Rodgers (SR/Lake Jackson, TX) finished with a 72-75-147, good for a fifth-place tie.
The Patriots final test of the fall semester will come October 22nd, when they compete at Tyler Junior College’s Invitational.
