Men's Golf No. 1 in Nation

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s golf team is the top NCAA Division III team in the nation according to the latest ratings released Wednesday.

The announcement comes on the heels of UT Tyler’s first place finish at its fall invitational earlier this week at Hollytree Country Club in Tyler.

“The ranking is the ultimate honor for our team and a great tribute to how hard our players have worked,” said head coach King Campbell. “What makes this especially significant is that our program has only recently become eligible for the national rankings.”

Continued Campbell, “It is still early in the season and our team is very young, so we are battling some issues with consistency. But if our guys will continue to work hard, we should be able to carry our success into the spring.”

UT Tyler will play its final tournament of the fall Oct. 22-23 at Oakhurst Golf Course in Bullard. That event is hosted by Tyler Junior College.

The Patriots are a combined 5-1 against top 25 teams and hold a 247-5 record against all Division III competition.
