Ellis Named ASC Golfer of the Week

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Sophomore Brandon Ellis (Village Mills, Texas) was named Male Golfer of the Week by the American Southwest Conference on Thursday afternoon.

Ellis won the individual competition in the 2008 UT Dallas Spring Golf Classic at Sherrill Park on Tuesday. Ellis shot rounds of 74, 77, and 72 to finish with a three-day total of 223. Ellis claimed the crown by beating out Andres Maymi of Texas A&M-International.

Ellis helped lead the Patriots to the team crown in the tournament as well. UT Tyler beat 2nd-place Mary Hardin-Baylor by 15 strokes and had a three-day total of 930.

The Patriots will return to action on April 13 in Longview at the Pinecrest Country Club when they compete in the 2008 LeTourneau Invitational. This will be the final tournament for UT Tyler before the ASC Championships on April 20 in Anna, Texas.
