Men’s Golf Wins LeTourneau Invitational

LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler men’s golf team shot a three-round total of 914 to handily win the LeTourneau Spring Classic played Monday and Tuesday at Pinecrest County Club.
Clay Holcomb fired a team-low 75 in Tuesday’s final round to pace the Patriots and finish second in the individual standings. Holcomb shot a 222 (72-75-75) for the tournament. UT Tyler's Jacob Walsh was third overall with a three-round total of 226 (76-73-77) and teammate Brian Jennings was just behind with a fifth-place, 228 (77-74-77).
The Patriots finished 32 strokes ahead of host LeTourneau’s 946 team score. Mississippi College was third place with a 954 while Schreiner (961) and Texas Lutheran (985) rounded out the top five.
Individually, UT Tyler’s Patrick Norris was in sixth place with a 223 and Matt Stephens in eighth overall with a 234.
LeTourneau’s Patrick Palmer was the top individual, firing a 1-under-par 69 in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 221.
The Patriots are in action next Monday and Tuesday at the American Southwest Conference Golf Championship in Anna, Texas.
