Humphrey Named Golfer of the Week

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Freshman Samantha Humphrey (Flower Mound, Texas) was named Women’s Golfer of the Week by the American Southwest Conference on Thursday morning.

Humphrey is fresh off of her tournament win in the 2008 LeTourneau Spring Classic on Tuesday at the Pinecrest Country Club in Longview. After Monday’s round, Humphrey found herself in third place, four strokes behind leader Alicia Yoder of Texas Dallas. On day two, Humphrey shot an 81 to lift herself past LeTourneau’s Leslie Lee and into a tie for first place. Humphrey would win the ensuing playoff and bring home UT Tyler’s first individual women’s title of the season. Humphrey finished with a two-day total of 166.

Humphrey and both Patriots golf teams will now travel to Anna, Texas on Monday to compete in the 2008 ASC Golf Championships held at the Hurricane Creek Country Club.
