Women’s Golf Tied for Fifth at UMHB

TEMPLE, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler women’s golf team finished the first day of the 2009 Mary Hardin-Baylor Lady Crusader Fall Invitational in a three-way tie for fifth place out of 16 teams on Monday at the Wildflower Country Club in Temple.

The Patriots shot a 342 on the day to tie with Tyler Junior College and California-Santa Cruz.

UT Tyler finished 37 strokes behind leaders Lubbock Christian and just eight strokes behind McMurry, the only of the six American Southwest Conference schools in the field to finish higher than the Patriots.

Junior Katie Harris (Salado, Texas) finished the first round in a tie for 10th place individually and led UT Tyler on the day with an 80.

The Patriots will return to the Wildflower Country Club on Tuesday for the final round of the tournament.
