Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Rhodes Invitational

TUNICA, Miss. – The University of Texas at Tyler men’s golf team finished the 2009 Rhodes College Invitational in eighth place out of 20 teams on Monday at the Tunica National Golf Course.

The Patriots shot a 309 on the day to finish the tournament with a total score of 601, 20 strokes behind winners Huntingdon College. UT Tyler also had the highest finish of any of the six American Southwest Conference schools in the event.

Junior Brandon Ellis (Village Mills, Texas) and freshman Joey Rippel (Sugarland, Texas) led UT Tyler in the tournament by tying for 15th place with a two-day total of 147.

The Patriots will now take nearly a month off before returning to the links on Oct. 12-13 to play in the Louisiana College Fall Classic at the Oakwing Golf Club in Alexandria, La.
