Women’s Golf in 4th at UTD Invitational

RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler women’s golf team ended the first day of the 2009 University of Texas at Dallas Lady Comet Invitational in fourth place out of seven teams at the Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson.

The Patriots shot a 345 on Monday, putting them 12 strokes behind tournament leaders Southwestern (Tex.) and just seven strokes behind third place Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Sophomore Callie Rice (Nome, Texas) led the Patriots on the day by shooting an 84 to finish in a tie for sixth place.

Freshman Lauren Decatur (League City, Texas) finished just one stroke behind Rice with an 85, while junior Jordan Woodruff (Gladewater, Texas) shot an 87.

Junior Katie Harris (Salado, Texas) rounded out the UT Tyler scorecard on Monday with an 89.

The Patriots will return to Canyon Creek on Tuesday for the final round of the tournament.
