Women’s Golf Finishes 4th at UTD Invitational

RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler women’s golf team shot a 337 during Tuesday’s final round at the Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson to finish the 2009 Texas-Dallas Lady Comet Invitational in fourth place.

The Patriots finished the tournament 31 strokes behind winners Southwestern (Tex.) and 13 strokes behind third place Mary Hardin-Baylor.

McMurry and Mary Hardin-Baylor were the only two American Southwest Conference schools to finish higher than UT Tyler, who finished in front of three other ASC teams.

Junior Jordan Woodruff (Gladewater, Texas) shot an 83 on Tuesday to lead the Patriots with a final score of 170. Woodruff finished the tournament tied for 11th place individually.

Sophomore Callie Rice (Nome, Texas) followed Woodruff closely by carding a 171, while freshman Meaghan Howell (Hallsville, Texas) fired an 80 on Tuesday to finish with a 172.

Freshman Lauren Decatur (League City, Texas) was fourth for the Patriots with a two-day total of 174, while junior Katie Harris (Salado, Texas) rounded out the UT Tyler scorecard with a 176.

The Patriots will continue their fall schedule next Monday when they travel to the Wildflower Country Club in Temple, Texas to take part in the 2009 Mary Hardin-Baylor Lady Crusader Invitational.
