Patriots Release Men's Basketball Schedule

The University of Texas at Tyler released its 2007-2008 men’s basketball schedule today and the lineup includes five non-conference games, twenty American Southwest Conference games, and ten games at home in the Herrington Patriot Center.
The Patriots, under first-year coach Kenny Bizot, will open their season Nov. 16 when the travel to Sewanee, Tenn., to compete in the 2007 Lon Varnell Classic hosted by Sewanee – The University of the South.
UT Tyler will take on the host Tigers on Friday, and on Saturday will face off against Emory University.
This year the Patriots will take on two NCAA Division I teams, with McNeese State on Nov. 20 and Louisiana - Monroe on Dec. 22. On Nov. 24, the Patriots will travel across the border to take on the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport, who are fresh off an NAIA Tournament appearance and a conference championship.
On Dec. 15, the Patriots will make their long-awaited home debut against ASC foe Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Cru are coming off of a trip to the NCAA Tournament and the Patriots will be eligible for post-season play for the first time in school history.
Another highlight on the home schedule is the Jan.19 match-up against defending ASC champion Mississippi College. That game will be the first time Bizot faces the team he helped coach for four years and spent another four years as a player.
UT Tyler will close out its 2007-2008 home season on Feb. 16 when they host rival East Texas Baptist.
