Patriot Men Top McMurry; Extend ASC Win Streak to Four

For the second game in a row, the University of Texas at Tyler men’s basketball team beat an opponent against whom they were previously winless. The Patriots downed McMurry on Thursday night at the Herrington Patriot Center, 82-76. UT Tyler has now won four straight American Southwest Conference games.
The game was a see-saw battle from start to finish that saw 15 ties and 12 lead changes. After the fifteenth tie of the game, senior Brandon Weasby (Houston, Texas) hit a three with 1:06 left in the game to put his team up for good.
Junior Anthony Reese (Longview, Texas) set a new career-high as he led the game with 22 points. Reese also led the game in rebounds with eight. Brandon Weasby followed Reese with 20 points, including another perfect performance at the free throw line, going 9-for-9. Seniors Patrick Branche (Houston, Texas) and Michael Smith (Etta, Miss.) rounded out the four UT Tyler players in double-digits with 14 and 11, respectively. Junior Dewayne Hall (El Paso, Texas) led McMurry with 18 points
The win lifts the Patriots to 6-6 overall and 5-2 in ASC play, while McMurry falls to 4-7 on the year and 1-6 in the conference.
UT Tyler will be back on their home court on Saturday when they welcome Hardin-Simmons to the Herrington Patriot Center. Game time is set for 3 p.m
