Patriots Rout UT Dallas on the Road

RICHARDSON, Texas -- The University of Texas at Tyler men’s basketball dominated Texas-Dallas from start to finish on their way to an 87-47 victory on Monday night in Richardson. The 40 point win was the largest of the season for the Patriots.
The Patriots led by as many 45 in the game and never trailed in the contest. UT Tyler shot an astounding 62 percent from the floor in the second half and 58 percent for the game. In addition, the Patriots shot 55 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the charity stripe. The Comets did not break the 30-point mark until well into the second half.
Senior Brandon Weasby (Houston, Texas) led UT Tyler with a game high 16 points, while senior Mike Smith (Etta, Miss.) and junior Marlon Hill (Port Arthur, Texas) followed with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Senior Patrick Branche (Houston, Texas) and junior Larry Ware (San Antonio, Texas) rounded out the five Patriots in double digits with 10 points a piece.
Freshman Jimmy Witten (Houston, Texas) led UT Dallas with 12 points.
With the win the UT Tyler advances to 8-10 overall and 7-6 in the East Division of the American Southwest Conference, while Texas-Dallas falls to 13-5 on the year and 9-4 in the conference.
The Patriots will return to the Herrington Patriot Center on Thursday when they take on Ozarks at 7:30 p.m.
