Soccer The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team has been picked to finish the 2008 American Southwest Conference season in second place, according to the annual preseason poll released by the league on Tuesday. Fourteen All-ASC Soccer Spots Go to Patriots The UT Tyler men’s and women’s soccer teams have placed a total of 14 players on the All-American Southwest Conference squads to cap off historic seasons, it was announced this week. Seven players from the ASC runner-up women’s soccer team were named to the All-ASC women’s team, including three first-team selections in Jorden Reed, Amanda Thomas and Kelly Buchanan. The Patriots advanced to the championship game of the ASC tournament in their first year eligible, falling to Hardin-Simmons, 2-0. Reed, a senior forward, scored a team-leading seven goals on the season. To that she added four assists to top the team in total points with 18. Men’s Soccer Ends Season in Semifinals CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The UT Tyler Patriots' season came to end in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference men's soccer tournament as UT Dallas advanced on penalty kicks Saturday at Hurie Field. Ending regulation and two overtime periods with a 1-1 tie, UTD scored on the final overtime penalty kick, giving the Comets the 3-2 edge in the shootout. More>>>
Men's Soccer Advances in ASC Tournament, Earns 2-0 Win Over UMHB CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – UT Tyler scored two second half goals to defeat third-seeded Mary Hardin-Baylor, 2-0, in the quarterfinal round of the American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Championship Friday in Clarksville, Ark. The No. 6 seed Patriots picked up the game-winning goal off the foot of junior midfielder Cole Brittain in the 57th minute. Brittain was aided on the game winner with an assist from junior forward Michael Kendall who headed a serve from Tony Bowles to Brittain. Kendall added an insurance goal late in the match after settling a pass from Adam McAlpine in font of the net before slipping it past UMHB goalkeeper Jude Austin in the 87th minute. Box Score. Long Wait Over for UT Tyler Men's Soccer The UT Tyler Patriots have arguably been the most dominant men's soccer program in the American Southwest Conference since 2002. Under head coach Kenny Jones, the Patriots won back-to-back ASC regular season titles in 2005 and 2006, along with ASC East title and the USCAA National Championship in 2003. But because of its provisional status, UT Tyler was not able to advance to the ASC post-season or on to the NCAA's. Those days are only memories now and the Patriots will make their first trip to the ASC tournament Friday. Holding the sixth seed, UT Tyler will play No. 3 Mary Hardin-Baylor at 2 p.m. on the campus of the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. The winner will go on to face No. 2 Texas-Dallas at 2 p.m. Saturday in the semifinal round. More>>>

Men’s Soccer Blanks ETBU on Senior Night In a special ceremony, seniors Taylor Casillas, Derek Meller, and Geoff Sherman were honored before the game. ETBU provided UT Tyler with its first goal when a corner kick by junior Tony Bowles (Mesquite, Texas) found its way into the hands of ETBU goalkeeper, Zane Barnes at 4:28. Barnes then bobbled the ball and dropped it behind him for an own goal that gave the Patriots an early 1-0 lead. More>>>

Patriots Fall to MC in Men's Soccer UT Tyler did everything right, but couldn't beat a stroke of good luck by Mississippi College as the Patriots dropped a 2-1, double-overtime decision to the Choctaws Saturday afternoon at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. An MC goal in the 108th minute by Jack Craven lifted the Choctaws over the Patriots and dropped UT Tyler to 3-4-1 overall and 1-3 in the ASC. More>>>
Men Notch First ASC Win After being held scoreless in their first two American Southwest Conference games last weekend, the UT Tyler men's soccer team unloaded its full fury on Louisiana College Thursday night, scoring a 5-0 win at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. Attacking was the name of the game as UT Tyler outshot Louisiana College, 21-1, including 11 shots on goal, giving the preseason favorite Patriots their first ASC win. Ozarks Hands Men’s Soccer Conference Loss Nate Abbott’s game-winning goal in the 66th minute propelled Ozarks to a 1-0 victory over UT Tyler on Friday afternoon in Clarksville, Ark. After a back-and-forth first half, the Eagles rallied in the final 45 minutes of action to gain control of the match. Brittain Leads UT Tyler to Non-Conference Win For the second straight game, junior midfielder Cole Brittain scored the game-winning goal for the UT Tyler men's soccer team. Tonight, the Patriots downed Southwestern, 1-0, at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. Brittain scored the game's only goal in the 14th minute with a header past Southwestern keeper Ryan Tasin.
