Men’s Soccer Advances With 6th Straight Shutout The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team (12-3-4) won its first-ever NCAA Championship tournament game on Thursday night by blanking the University of Dallas (16-4-1), 4-0, at the Citizen’s 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex. The game marked the sixth consecutive shut out and 10th of the season for the Patriots. The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team (11-3-4) captured the 2008 American Southwest Conference tournament championship on Sunday by beating Texas-Dallas (13-6-2), 2-0, at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex in Tyler. The championship is the first-ever postseason title for the men’s soccer program and marks the first time since the 2004 season that the same team has won both the ASC regular season and tournament titles. The award recognizes those student-athletes who not only excel on the field, but in the classroom as well.
