Trinity Ends NCAA Run for Men's Soccer

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team was eliminated from the 2008 NCAA Division III Men’s Championship tournament with a 2-0 loss to No. 1 Trinity on Sunday at Jesse H. Jones Soccer Field.

After holding off the Trinity (19-0-1) attack in the first half, UT Tyler gave up two goals in a three-minute span midway through the second.  The Patriots (12-4-4) were making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament. More>>>

Men’s Soccer Advances With 6th Straight Shutout

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team (12-3-4) won its first-ever NCAA Championship tournament game on Thursday night by blanking the University of Dallas (16-4-1), 4-0, at the Citizen’s 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

The game marked the sixth consecutive shut out and 10th of the season for the Patriots. It was also the first NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship victory by any team from the American Southwest Conference. More>>

Romaguera, Jones Lead Men’s Soccer in ASC Awards

RICHARDSON, Texas - Freshman T.J. Romaguera (Arlington, Texas) and head coach Kenny Jones of The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team led eight Patriot honorees in the sport’s annual postseason awards released by the American Southwest Conference on Tuesday.

Romaguera was named ASC Defensive Freshman of the Year, while Jones was named ASC Coach of the Year. More>>

UT Tyler to Host UD Thursday in NCAA Tournament

Men’s Soccer Wins First ASC Tournament Title

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team (11-3-4) captured the 2008 American Southwest Conference tournament championship on Sunday by beating Texas-Dallas (13-6-2), 2-0, at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex in Tyler.

The championship is the first-ever postseason title for the men’s soccer program and marks the first time since the 2004 season that the same team has won both the ASC regular season and tournament titles. More>>

Last season, The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team lost to Texas-Dallas by way of a penalty kick shootout in the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Championship tournament in Clarksville, Ark.

RICHARDSON, Texas - Seniors Adam McAlpine (Kingwood, Texas) and Tony Bowles (Mesquite, Texas) of The University of Texas at Tyler men's soccer team earned the final American Southwest Conference Player of the Week awards of the season, as announced by the conference on Monday.

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team won a hard-fought match with Ozarks, 1-0, on Saturday at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Seniors Adam McAlpine and Kelly Buchanan of The University of Texas at Tyler soccer teams were each named to their respective ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

The award recognizes those student-athletes who not only excel on the field, but in the classroom as well. Nominees must play in at least 50 percent of their team’s games and carry at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. More>>

LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team lost, 2-1, in overtime to LeTourneau on Saturday evening in Longview. The loss is the first for the Patriots since Sep. 11 of this year and the first-ever to the YellowJackets.

The Patriots (7-3-3, 6-1-3 ASC) took nearly double the shots, 27-15, and received more corner kicks, 8-2, but were stymied by LeTourneau goalkeeper Kyle Davis, who made 15 saves in the game.More>>
