Patriots Fall to MC in Men's Soccer
September 22, 2007
UT Tyler did everything right, but couldn't beat a stroke of good luck by Mississippi College as the Patriots dropped a 2-1, double-overtime decision to the Choctaws Saturday afternoon at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.
An MC goal in the 108th minute by Jack Craven lifted the Choctaws over the Patriots and dropped UT Tyler to 3-4-1 overall and 1-3 in the ASC.
Similar to the women's game between UT Tyler and MC, a scoreless tie forcing overtime looked like a sure thing, but Mississippi College (5-1, 4-0) broke the 0-0 tie with a goal at 82:49 by Chris Penton.
UT Tyler took just seven minutes to respond, when Michael Kendall, who finished the game with three shots total, slipped one into the back of the net off an assist from Eric Oakley in the 90th minute to tie the game again, this time at 1-1.
MC outshot UT Tyler, 18-16, in a tough-fought game that had 37 total fouls, including nine yellow cards charged to the Choctaws.
The Patriots continue ASC play this weekend on the road for games at Hardin-Simmons and McMurry.
