Men's Soccer Goes Down 2-1 at TLU

SEGUIN, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler men's soccer team continued to struggle in American Southwest Conference action, suffering a 2-1 loss to Texas Lutheran on Friday.
At TLU’s Gustafson Field, the Bulldogs quickly took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Pedro Martinez less than five minutes elapsed in the match.
TLU struck again in the 65th minute with an unassisted goal from Gumaro Sanchez.
The Bulldogs spent the remaining 25 minutes fending off UT Tyler attacks. Senior Tony Guillen (Longview, Texas), the ASC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, pulled the Patriots within a goal with less than five minutes to play. Guillen’s goal was assisted by Edward Anaya (Hot Springs, Ark.).
Of the Patriots 12 total shots in the match, nine were delivered in the second half.
The win moved TLU to 1-8-1 overall and to 1-4-1 in the ASC. UT Tyler dropped to 2-6-2 overall and to 2-3-2 in the ASC.
