Men’s Soccer Ends Season With Tie at Ozarks
Ocotber 31, 2009
CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team ended Saturday’s double-overtime American Southwest Conference match at Ozarks in a 0-0 tie, forcing the Patriots just outside of the six-team ASC Tournament field.
Both teams had several opportunities in the match, but Ozarks goalkeeper Neil Thompson and UT Tyler goalkeeper Mark Oliphant (Bedford, Texas) kept their respective sides in the contest by making two and three saves, respectively.
Senior Tony Guillen (Longview, Texas) finished his brilliant career as a Patriot by recording one of UT Tyler's two shots on goal in the contest, junior Jared Taylor (Royse City, Texas) took the other.
The 2009 UT Tyler men’s soccer team ends its season at 6-7-4 overall and 6-4-4 in the ASC. The Patriots finished seventh in the conference regular season standings, thus failing to qualify for the ASC Tournament for the first time since becoming eligible in 2007.
