Offensive Woes Sink Men’s Soccer at Hardin-Simmons
September 25, 2009

ABILENE, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team failed to convert numerous shot opportunities into goals during Friday’s American Southwest conference matchup at Hardin-Simmons and as a result fell to the Cowboys, 1-0, at the HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene.

The Patriots (1-4-1, 1-1-1) outshot Hardin-Simmons 15 to 11 in the match, but failed to get any of those shots past Cowboys goalkeeper Logan Waters.

In the 21st minute, Hardin-Simmons (3-1-1, 2-0) scored the lone goal of the game when Isaiah Hicks snuck a ball past UT Tyler’s Mark Oliphant (Bedford, Texas) to give his team the eventual win.

Despite letting one goal by, Oliphant kept his team in the contest by recording five saves in the match.

The Patriots will continue ASC play in Abilene on Saturday when they meet McMurry at 4 p.m.
