Bohne’s Homer Lifts UMHB Past Chapman

TYLER, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (33-9) third baseman Megan Bohne hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning to give the UMHB an early 3-0 lead. That would be all the offense the Lady Cru needed as they took down No. 12 Chapman (27-10), 3-1, in the first day of the NCAA Division III Softball Tyler Regional.

Chapman would earn their only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning, when catcher Amanda Campbell doubled to right field to score shortstop Catherine Hall.

Chapman pitcher Jennifer Winford fell to 15-6 by allowing two earned runs off of four hits with three walks and a strikeout.

Mary Hardin-Baylor pitcher Kelsey Greeson allowed one run off five hits with three strikeouts on the day to improve to 17-2 on the year.

Mary Hardin-Baylor will now meet the winner of Thursday’s Texas-Tyler and La Verne match-up on Friday at 2 p.m., while Chapman moves to the elimination bracket to take on the loser of Thursday’s Louisiana College and Linfield game on Friday 12 p.m.
