UMHB’s Bohne Homes Again in Win Over La Verne

TYLER, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (34-9) third baseman Megan Bohne hit a two RBI homerun in the top of the fourth inning that proved to be the difference maker, lifting her team past La Verne (28-18) in Friday’s NCAA Softball Tyler Regional match-up.

La Verne was first on the board with a fielder’s choice from Jessica Ortega that scored Jessica Hernandez in the bottom of the third inning.

In the top of the very next inning, Bohne hit her second homerun of the tournament and the second homerun overall in the tournament as well. Bohne wrapped up her day by going 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs.

UMHB added another run in the top of the sixth when Charlsie Cope scored pinch runner Joanna Johnson to put the Lady Cru up 3-1 and add the exclamation point on the win.

The loss moves La Verne to the elimination bracket where they will take on the winner of the Texas-Tyler/Linfield game on Saturday at 12 p.m., while Mary-Hardin Baylor stays in the winner’s bracket and will meet Louisiana College tomorrow at 10 a.m. in an American Southwest Conference showdown.
