For the second time in two days, the points were few and far between in the men's game at Patriot Field on the UT Tyler campus, but the 1-0 verdict was the same. The Patriots won and are still unscored on in American Southwest Conference action. Malek Bekka scored the game-winner in Friday's 1-0 win over Louisiana College to keep the conference shutout mark intact. On Saturday, it was Barrett Browning's time to shine. The game played out with UT Tyler dominating play, outshooting the Choctaws 18-8 in the contest, with six corner kicks to none for the visitors. It appeared the game might end in a scoreless deadlock when it went into the final five minutes, but then play picked up. The Patriots' back-line of defense held together to fight off two vital runs by the Choctaws but the goalie play of Josh Wilson turned back both dead-on shots. Finally, in the 89th minute, the Patriots worked their offense and Browning's blast from 12 feet proved to be the winner. "It was just like we practice it," said Browning, one of four players from Wichita Falls. "The ball came in from the wing and we played it across and I was just fortunate enough to be there to finish it off. "But it was another total team effort. We are really playing well together and our defense is just awesome. They've (defense) only given up three goals all season and that's pretty much incredible," said the sophomore. The Patriots improve to 11-1 on the year and 7-0 in ASC play while MC
slips to 2-9. The Patriots will travel to play against the University
of Dallas on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Soccer
