Undefeated in conference play, the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws picked up one goal in each half en route to a 2-0 American Southwest Conference win at Patriot Field over the UT Tyler women's team on Saturday afternoon. The game was a well-played contest as the Patriots matched Mississippi College shot for shot with the Patriots taking 15 shots on goal to 13 for the visitors. Unfortunately for the Patriots, the two shots made by MC could not be matched. "It was a great game," said Patriots women's head coach Jodi Lovell. "They are undefeated in conference play and they have a great team. But our girls never let down and they played very well as a team. "We pretty well matched them shot for shot, but we just couldn't finish off in the net. But everybody played well, and we know we'll need to regroup and get ready for a big game on Tuesdsay." Mississippi College (12-1, 7-0) outshot the Patriots 10-6 in the opening half until a goal by Tina Deshotels gave the Lady Choctaws a 1-0 lead. Katie DeDeaux had the assist on the goal in the 33rd minute of the play. Play continued to go from one end of the field to the other as UT Tyler picked up the shooting pace to hold a 9-3 advantage in shots for the second half. The second half mirrored the first-half point output, however, as Mississippi College's Brittany Harris came back with with an unassisted goal in the 58th minute to finish out the scoring. With the loss, the Patriots drop to 6-4 on the season and 4-3 in the ASC. The Patriots travel to Dallas for another conference match-up against the University of Dallas on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. kickoff slated. Soccer
