The UT Tyler women's soccer team trounced The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor 4-1 on Friday to go above .500 for the first time this season. The Patriots (4-3) were led by freshmen Brittany Gill, Erica Nelson, Leigh Garner, and Cara Janton. Nelson, from Weatherford, opened the scoring for UT Tyler with a goal on an assist from Janton in the 3rd minute. Janton herself scored in the 18th minute and Gill blasted in two more goals in the game's 80th and 89th minutes. Garner had four shots and an assist on one of Gill's goals. Despite suffering their first loss of the season to NCAA Division II power St. Edward's in Austin, the Patriot men currently stand at 7-1 on the season and are undefeated in American Southwest Conference play. Barrett Browning leads all Patriots in scoring with ten goals on the season. UT Tyler downed Mary Hardin-Baylor in double overtime on a Taylor Casillas goal in the 110th minute on Friday before falling to St. Ed's on Saturday. Soccer
