UT Tyler Soccer Teams Sweep Weekend Games

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s and women’s soccer teams swept Louisiana College and Mississippi College to go a combined 4-0 in American Southwest Conference action this weekend.

On Friday, the UT Tyler women (3-4, 3-2 ASC) picked up their third win of the year in a 3-1 decision over Louisiana College.

Leigh Garner, Nicolette Weil and Tricia Slate all scored for the Patriots and as a team, UT Tyler out-shot Louisiana College by a 30-5 margin.

In goal, Lindsey Henrie made two saves for UT Tyler, going all 90 minutes.

The Patriots men moved to 3-1 in the ASC and 6-1 overall with their 5-0 shutout win against Louisiana College.

Malek Bekka and Michael Baumgartner both scored twice for the Patriots, while Brody Dyer scored off of a Scott Frickey assist in the 36th minute.

The UT Tyler defense, led by Apollo Turnbow, allowed only one shot by Louisiana College. The Patriots’ offense combined for 25 shots and 14 shots-on-goal.

Josh Wilson and Geoff Sherman split the goal-keeping duties for the Patriots.

Both UT Tyler teams beat Mississippi College on Saturday, 2-0.

UT Tyler will host McMurry on Friday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
