HSU’s women (10-1, 8-0) have allowed only one goal the entire season and Saturday was no different, holding UT Tyler (4-5, 4-3) to only three total shots while scoring on goals from Kelsey Jensen and Kala Chalman. Both Cowgirls’ goals came in the first 20 minutes of the game. Lindsey Henrie had a valiant effort in goal for the Patriots women, picking up 18 saves and allowing only two goals on 29 shots from the leading offensive team in the ASC. The UT Tyler men (8-2, 5-2) bounced back from a 2-1 loss to McMurry on Friday to upset the Cowboys by the same margin and potentially, depending on the outcome of the McMurry-UT Dallas game being played Saturday, knock Hardin-Simmons (7-4-2, 5-2-1) from atop the ASC standings. After a scoreless first half, back-to-back goals by Adam McAlpine in the 48th minute and Taylor Robbins in the 49th minute put UT Tyler ahead, 2-0. Robbins’ goal was assisted by Eric Schaal. The lone goal for the Cowboys would come on a penalty kick by David Salas. Josh Wilson and Geoff Sherman combined for seven saves in goal for the Patriots. The UT Tyler teams will play at Concordia in Austin Friday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. |
