Patriots Men Win Home Finale, Women Fall to TLU

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s soccer team edged out a 3-2 victory over Texas Lutheran and the women’s team lost a heartbreaker to the Bulldogs, 1-0, Sunday in their final home games of the season.

Men

Alan Hardin knocked in a corner kick from Scott Frickey in the 3rd minute to put UT Tyler on the board early in the men’s game. The goal was Hardin’s first of the season.

Texas Lutheran responded five minutes later with a goal by Marcus Pais.

The next goal in the back-and-forth game came on an unassisted shot by Patriot Taylor Robbins in the 14th minute.

TLU would even the score at 2-2 just before halftime on a Brad Sparks goal in the 40th minute.

After a relatively slow second half, Taylor Robbins blasted in the game-winning goal off an assist from Adam McAlpine in the 79th minute to give UT Tyler the win.

Women

An unassisted goal by TLU’s Sarah McDougal in the 61st minute was the only goal scored in the 1-0 TLU victory in the women’s game.

TLU outshot UT Tyler 17-6 overall as UT Tyler managed only one shot-on-goal. Patriot goalkeeper Lindsey Henrie made eight saves in the effort.
