The women fell behind in the first half but rallied with four second-half goals for a 5-3 final score. The victory was also the women's first win of the year as Patricia Slate led the attack with two goals and one assist. A Derek Meller goal in the 25th minute of play was all the scoring UT Tyler needed as the Patriot men outlasted the Ozarks, 1-0, to draw even in conference play (4-1, 1-1). In the women's game, UT Tyler outshot the Lady Eagles 34-14 in the game and dominated the second half. Slate's first goal accounted for the only first-half scoring as the Patriots trailed 2-1. The Patriots women (2-2, 1-1) tied the game in the 46th minute as Jenna Lyle finished off a Slate pass and, 10 minutes later, Slate scored again to give the Patriots the lead.
Patriots goalkeeper Geoff Sherman, a T.K. Gorman graduate, made nine saves. The backline play of Alan Hardin, Apollo Turnbow, Eric Dygert and Scott Frickey played key roles in the win. The Ozarks (4-4, 2-1) outshot UT Tyler, 18-11, including 9-7 in shots on goal. The Patriots return to conference play on Sunday as they host Ausitn College in a men's and women's doubleheader. The women start at 1 p.m. and the men start at 3 p.m. |
