Softball Moves to 20-0 With Wins at Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- The No.1 ranked UT Tyler Patriots easily improved to 20-0 on the season with a pair of victories on the road at Ozarks Friday afternoon.
UT Tyler beat Ozarks 16-5 in the first game and 15-5 in game two.
Sara DeStefano was 3-for-5 in the first game and led the offensive effort for the Patriots with six RBIs.
The Patriots (20-0, 4-0) opened with two runs in the top of the first inning on a two-RBI triple by Megan Richardson. Amanda Busby and Julie Smith both had RBI singles in the second inning and UT Tyler added another run in the third when DeStefano doubled to center, scoring Cori Green, to make the score 6-0, UT Tyler.
In the top of the fourth, DeStefano came to the plate with two outs and peeled off a grand slam that scored Brittanni Hanna, Carly Collins, and Sara Roeten.
Homeruns by Richardson and Kate Lightfield sparked the Patriot in the second game. Richardson was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and six RBIs to lead UT Tyler. Collins added two RBIs.
In the circle, Kelsey Harrington picked up the win in game one and Kelsey Ainsworth earned the complete-game win for the Patriots in game two.
UT Tyler plays host to Texas-Dallas on Saturday at the UT Tyler Ballpark. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
